WithinReach video streaming help:

  1. Reach is written using standard web browser technology and Flash video. To view the web pages you need a PC connected to the internet. If your company policy does not allow you to access the internet (or world wide web), you will not be able to use Reach. To see if you can access the internet, click on the following link BBC Website. If you can not see the BBC website then you may not be able to access the internet. Please speak to your company IT department.
  2. You will need a PC that has a web browser installed, preferable Firefox 3.0 or IE 7.0 and above. Reach will run on older PC's/browsers, but if your PC has limited memory you may experience 'memory cannot be read' error when viewing live video. Try closing all your other applications and restarting your browser. To test your PC, try clicking on a live video feed, like Livestream. Please note this is a public site and we can take no responsibility for the live content broadcast at any time. If you are unable to view the live stream, you will need to contact your internal IT department.
  3. To view video, you will need to have installed Adobe Flash Player, preferable v10. When you first log onto Reach a default video "1.5 to Stay Alive" will automatically start playing. If your PC does not have Adobe Flash Player installed, the option to install it will be displayed. If you wish to pre-install it, please click on the following link Get Flash Player. Please note this is a third party supplier's site and we can take no responsibility for the software downloaded.
  4. Occasionally, company firewall's are configured to block access to certain classes of sites, such as file sharing or social networking sites. If you can not see live video it may be because your company IT department has inadvertantly or deliberately blocked port 1945. To check your access to external live streaming, try clicking on a live video feed, like Livestream. Please note this is a public site and we can take no responsibility for the live content broadcast at any time. If you are unable to view the live stream, you will need to contact your internal IT department.
  5. Live video requires data transfer from the internet onto your PC. The speed of the data transfer may affect the quality of the video image. You can test the download speed of your internet connection by using the following tool: SpeedTest.net. Ideally your download speed should exceed 2.5 Mb/s. If your download speed is significantly lower, you will need to contact your internal IT department.
